Rhode Island: Listing of Free Government Phone Providers
Low-income residents in the state of Rhode Island have the opportunity to receive either a free or deeply discounted device (with free airtime/texting and data) or a discount on their home landline. These services are made possible thanks to the Federal Lifeline and Federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).
While many Rhode Island phone service providers participate in the Lifeline and ACP programs, you'll soon find that the offers differ from company to company. When researching service providers, make sure to spend time comparing the plans to ensure you select the best plan for your needs.
Below is a listing of phone service providers offering free or discounted government phones and services in the state of Rhode Island:
The above list may not be a listing of all free phone providers in Rhode Island, but it's a good start. As we come across more providers, we'll add them to the list. We'll also periodically review the list to remove those providers no longer servicing the Rhode Island area
Rhode Island Factoid: Of the 139,592 households eligible to receive Lifeline benefits, only 21,839 have actually applied. As of October 2022, according to the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), 84% of Lifeline-eligible households are paying for internet/wireless services that they could otherwise receive for free
Please share this information with anyone you know that could benefit from the Lifeline program.
