As one of the largest, if not the largest, wireless phone service providers in the United States, Metro by T-Mobile is helping low-income households by participating in the Affordable Connectivity Program. With over 6,900 stores scattered throughout the country, there’s a good chance you’ll find a T-Mobile store near you. T-Mobile claims to be the first with 5G in all 50 states. In Alaska, they partnered with GCI.

The Affordable Connectivity Program is a Federal program that provides monthly discounts to apply towards internet or phone services. Eligible households may receive a discount of up to $30 per month. Households living on qualified Tribal Lands may receive a discount of up to $75 per month.

Plans Offered by Metro by T-Mobile

The pricing for the plans listed below has deducted the $30 monthly ACP discount. If you do not qualify for ACP and wish to purchase one of the plans below, non-ACP eligible individuals must add $30 to the price of each plan:

100GB Google One cloud storage

$30 Per Month ACP Plan

Everything the $20 plan offers plus:

An additional 15 GB of hotspot data for a total of 20GB
Unlimited texting from the US to over 210 countries

Metro by T-Mobile also offers unlimited 5G Home internet for $50 per month as long as you sign up for AutoPay. You can even add an unlimited high-speed data plan for your tablet. They offer various options starting at $15 per month.

Vix+ is a is a popular Spanish-language streaming service. A subscription costs (as of this writing) $6.99 per month. T-Mobile is throwing in one year of streaming for free.

Eligibility Criteria for the Affordable Connectivity Discounts

In order to enjoy the discounted benefits listed above, you must enroll in the Affordable Connectivity Program. However, before enrolling, you must qualify. To qualify for the ACP you or someone in your household must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:

You are someone in your household who receives benefits from one of the following government programs:

Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
Medicaid
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

If living on Tribal lands and participate in the following:

Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
Tribal Head Start
Tribally-Administered Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)

You have a household income that is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guideline.

Necessary Documents for ACP application

After meeting the eligibility criteria, you’ll need to gather the necessary documents before applying at the National Verifier website. You’ll be required to upload documents proving you are eligible.

If you’re eligible based on income, you might have to provide current tax returns or current consecutive pay stubs. If you’re eligible because you participate in one of the plans listed above, provide a copy of the awards letter or statement of benefits letter.

In addition to proof of eligibility, you must show a valid, current government-issued form of ID. A driver’s license, passport, and military ID are just a few acceptable forms. You must also prove that you’re alive (yes, that’s right). Below are acceptable forms of proof:

Applying for Affordable Connectivity Benefits

With the necessary documents in hand, visit the National Verifier site and apply for benefits. The National Verifier automatically verifies your eligibility by checking their databases. If your information is not found in the database, they may require additional information before approving your application.

Usually, the approval process takes about 20 to 30 minutes, unless your information is not found in the database. However, sometimes there are delays based on increased demand. Keep in mind, you will have to recertify your ACP eligibility annually.

Applying for Metro T-Mobile ACP Plans

Once you receive your National Verification Number, head over to MetrobyT-Mobile.com and click My Account to fill out their ACP application. You’ll have to insert your Nation Verification number. Make sure the information submitted to the National Verifier and Metro T-Mobile must match exactly. Upon successful enrollment, Metro T-Mobile will send you a text.

The ACP discount will be applied within 1 to 2 billing cycles. They will text you when the discount is applied to your account.

You must use your phone at least once every 45 days or run the risk of being de-enrolled.

Well, that depends. If you two live in separate households then yes. However, if you are living together, no. Only one benefit per household.
