Breezeline - Affordable Connectivity Plans

BreezelineBreezeline, the 8th largest cable operator (according to a February 2023 press release), participates in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). The ACP helps qualified low-income individuals/households afford internet connectivity. In this fast-paced online world, the Affordable Connectivity Program helps to shorten the digital divide between the haves and have-nots.

Unfortunately, Breezeline doesn't have a free government phone program as they don't offer Lifeline benefits, but they do offer discounted internet plans. The short and sweet benefit of the ACP is that it provides discounts of up to $30 or up to $75 if you live on qualified Tribal Lands that can be applied to any of the Breezeline internet plans.

What Breezeline Offers and Where

As of this writing, February 2023, Breezeline services the following 13 states:

Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia

Their internet plans range in price from $19.99 per month to $59.99 per month. All plans include unlimited data but differ in the data transfer speed and the number of devices that would benefit from the plan. Here’s a quick summary of their plans:

Base

Cost: $19.99 per month
Data Speed: 100 Mbps
The ideal number of devices: 1 to 3

Fast

Cost: $39.99/month
Data Speed: 200 Mbps
The ideal number of devices: 4-7

Ultra Fast

Cost: $39.99/month
Data Speed: 500 Mbps
The ideal number of devices: 8-12

GigaFast

Cost: $59.99/month
Data Speed: 1000 Mbps
The ideal number of devices: 12 or more

The price above includes a $10 Autopay & Ecosafe discount. Without the discount, the prices range between $29.99 to $69.99 per month. Also, pricing may change depending on location.

Why I’m still trying to figure out why they offer two $39.99 plans when one plan is far superior to the other for the same price. Maybe there’s something in the fine print that I’m missing.

Depending on the plan you choose, your internet service could be either free or close to it.

Qualifying for the ACP Discount

To qualify for the monthly discounts, you must meet the eligibility criteria. To do so you or someone in your household must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  1. Participate in one of the following government assistance programs:
    • Lifeline
    • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
    • Medicaid
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
    • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
    • Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit
    • The following programs apply if living on qualified Tribal lands:

    • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
    • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
    • Tribal Head Start
    • Tribally-Administered Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)

  2. Have a household income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines
  3. Applying for ACP

After meeting the criteria, visit the National Verifier website and apply. It is recommended that you assemble the necessary paperwork first before applying. Having the right documents in hand will make the application process painless.

Here’s a listing of a few of the necessary documents:

    • Government-issued ID (you have to prove you are who you say you are). The ID must be current and not expired.

    • Proof of Life. Yes, you must prove that you’re alive. Unfortunately, people try to game the system, so you must provide a document that confirms your name and shows activity within the last three months. Documents like a utility bill, paystub, unemployment statement of benefits, or current lease or mortgage statement. These are just a few examples of acceptable proof of life documents.

    • Proof of eligibility. That documentation will vary depending on how you qualify. If you qualify based on income, provide proof of income along with the number of individuals living in the household. If you qualify based on government assistance program participation, provide a copy of the approval letter or proof of benefits.

With the necessary valid documentation, your ACP application should be approved within 20 to 30 minutes. It sometimes takes longer if they have to validate some of the documents.

NOTE: Make sure your application and your documentation information match EXACTLY.

    Applying for Breezeline ACP

Now that you’re approved for ACP benefits, go over to Breezeline and click the “Enroll Now” button. As with the ACP application, your information must match exactly when applying for Breezeline internet service.

Breezeline processes applications within 7 business days. The ACP discounts are applied to the account on the 10th of each month.

    Things to Note:

    • If you select a monthly plan that costs more than the ACP discount, you are responsible for the remaining balance. If you cannot pay the outstanding balance, your service might be canceled. It is recommended that you downgrade to a more affordable plan.

    • You are required to recertify eligibility annually

    • According to Breezeline, if you move, you’ll have to re-apply to ACP with your new address. Also, if you move to an area not serviced by Breezeline, you’ll have to search for another ACP internet provider.
