Welcome to Free Government Phones.org

You probably ended up on this site because you either have or wish to have or know someone who has a free government phone as provided through the Lifeline program or a free/discounted tablet as provided by the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). Unfortunately, due to lack of funding, the Affordable Connectivity Program is no longer an option. Currently, as of 2024, the only federally funded discount option is the Lifeline program.

I’m in the process of updating the site and each page to reflect the recent changes. It will take time to update all the content. In the meantime, feel free to read the information as is but keep in mind that ACP is no longer an option.

On this site, you’ll find information and links to various free/discount phone providers. You’ll also find necessary information regarding the Lifeline and ACP programs and what it takes to qualify for the discount.

Uncomplicated Website Design

Listing of StatesListing of Phone Providers Frequently Asked Questions

Here at Free Government Phones.org, you’ll be able to search for free smartphone providers by state by clicking the “State Listing” link. Doing so will bring you to a chart of US state links listed alphabetically. Clicking on one of the links will bring you to another alphabetical listing of free phone providers in that state.

Similarly, if you click on the “Wireless Providers” link in the above menu, you’ll be taken to another alphabetical list. This time the list is a listing of free phone providers. You should be able to find some useful information here.

Keep in mind that the list of providers is a start but is by no means a complete list of ALL free/discounted smartphone or tablet providers participating in the Lifeline program. Free Government Phones.org aims to give you a foundation from which you can begin your research.

Lifeline Program Constant Changes

Because the landscape of the Lifeline and Affordable Connectivity continues to evolve as technology and the needs of the people evolve, so will this website. Change is constantly occurring and sometimes it’s difficult to keep up. As such, the “last modified” dates are indicated at the bottom of each page in an attempt to let the reader know just how current or out of date the information contained therein is.

Just the Beginning of Your Search

It is our sincere hope that this site helps to provide valuable information in your search for a free/discounted government cell phone provider in your state. However, please do not stop your information gathering here at Free Government Phones.org. There is plenty of free information available on the topic. Do your homework so that you are sure you’re signing up with the phone service that suits you best.

According to the USAC, as of December 2023, only 19% of all eligible households in the United States are enrolled in the Lifeline and ACP programs. The are so many more households that can benefit from enrolling. If you know of other individuals/households that can benefit from discounted or free tablets along with low-cost or no-cost internet service, please share this with them.

Wishing you all the best!
